The Waxing Process
Helena’s Brazilian Wax & Spa takes pride in following strict rules of hygiene. All materials are disposed of after every use, & nothing is reused or recycled. We utilize sterilization on all tools and equipment. All technicians are rigorously trained using Brazilian hard and soft wax.
Ice is used with the application of hard wax. This helps to eliminate gaps between the skin allowing the roots to be removed. After the hard wax, we use soft wax to remove the fine hairs. Using both of these waxes helps with proper hair removal. Finally, we use tweezers to remove any stubborn hairs remaining for a much smoother appearance. We finish each session with aftercare products and a high-frequency lamp to minimize irritation.
Tips for Before and After Getting Waxed
- Hair growth should be at least 1/4"
- Take painkiller 30 minutes before your appointment (preferably with caffeine)
- Apply an antibiotic cream with pain relief after the waxing as necessary
- Stay out of the sun 24 hours before and after waxing service
- Avoid exercise 24 hours after waxing service
- We understand that people react to waxing in different ways. But to maintain a level of professionalism and comfortability, we ask that you "relieve" yourself prior to appointment. In the event that you have an "accident", servicing will be stopped immediately. You will still be charged the full price for the service
- If you are concerned about wax getting on your clothes, please bring a change of clothes
- We recommend you get waxed 6 weeks prior to any special occasion or surgery to see how your skin reacts. You should return 3 days before your event for a fresh wax service.
Tips For Laser Hair Removal
- Fair skin avoid sun exposure for at least four weeks before treatment, during the course of treatment and at least one week after treatment, including the use of tanning beds or tanning products, such as creams, lotions and sprays
- Olive to Darker skin avoid sun exposure 5-7 days before treatment and one week after treatment, including the use of tanning beds or tanning products, such as creams, lotions and sprays
- It’s best to shave the night before or the morning of your scheduled laser hair removal treatment. This will allow the laser to target the pigment in the hair follicle to effectively heat and destroy the follicle
